As always, another wonderful story from Mary Kennedy. Sadly, because of glaring editing errors this book only rates 3 stars at best..Alex (Sniff) Mullins enlisted in the Army as soon as he graduated from high school. The story goes on to say that he separated from the military at Camp Lejeune, which is a Marine Corp base. His separation point would more likely be Ft. Bragg, an Army base. Then, when he is rescued and first meets the team, Nine offers him a place to recover and then work, in Virginia, That reference should read Steel Patriots MC, not REAPER. The teams had not merged with REAPER at that point.An omission in the storyline about Lucy’s abduction by the international terrorist Zacharov would have benefited from an explanatory line, reminding the reader that she was taken by boat into the bayou in the middle of a hurricane, explaining why he and Lucy both needed to be warmed up. Yes, I realize the books are not intended to be standalones but reminders for readers are always, always appreciated. The opening scene in chapter 13 is obviously a conversation about Kyle’s behavior but never is his name given – read it three times to make sure. Chapter 20 opens with Lucy talking to Alex except she calls him Carl. In chapter 25 Ian says “oorah” which is used almost exclusively by the Marine Corp. Since Ian was a SEAL, the correct battle cry is “hooyah”. In chapter 30, if you look up the definition of “infamous” you recognize it is the wrong word to describe the Eiffel TowerThere are several outstanding scenes intertwining Robicheaux family history with significant US history events. These scenes, like so many others in her books, are always fascinating, entertaining and informative.Ms. Kennedy’s books deserve greater care than they are receiving during the editing process.
